This is the place to find out more about the Deck13 developers and to see what they are doing and if they are still alive and kicking. And that's a legitimate question, considering their hard work for the release of the adventure highlight Ankh.
Ankh? Schmankh!
Thorsten's current state of mind worries us, erm, a bit. The lead programmer is currently doing so many silly jokes that we've even given up making him pay the 20 cent into our silly-phrases-moneybox. And that's a pitty because we'd now be rich otherwise.
Due to the continuing stress of the Ankh development, the company e-sports team cancelled their weekly inhouse tournaments. Lead artist Timm however is quite happy about that because he couldn't participate anyway: his new offspring (congrats!) demands all his free time.
Backstage In Retrospect
Super trainee Paul has already cleaned his desk. He's emptied the drawers and put the family photo and potted plant into the cardboard box. Well, who wouldn't be moved to tears after six months of intense work, lunch, gaming, and talking rubbish (we could now buy an Airbus A380 from the contents of our silly-phrases-moneybox). However there's one golden ray of light on the grey horizon: The "new guy" is already at the door, a suitcase in his hand, still lighthearted and full of ideals. We will be nice to him. And give him a warm welcome.
It's all about the stress...

...and therefore you can from now on watch our stress level going up and down using our new Stress Indicator - a handy thing that can also give a hint on why email are not answered any more and websites don't receive any updates. You will see: it corresponds directly with the development stress level which, unfortunately, increases dramatically at the end of every major project. Which is a pity because right at that time there are so many funny and bizarre stories to tell...
Stress has recently risen from "Elevated" to "High", as there is currently lots of work to do for an important pre-beta test of Ankh.

Creative Order - How we are Working
Tasks are evenly distributed at Deck13. Technical Director Armin Burger has, apart from his planning activities, manually (!) installed all network cables and wants to be praised for every website that's accessed. Creative Director Jan Klose doesn't play games anymore due to all that project work, and always uses the same excuse: "But I have watched someone playing that game for a long time!" Wow. Besides, he always hides the tea spoons.
And Executive Director Florian Stadlbauer, the man who keeps the necessary distance and is thus allowed to manage the finances, is always laughed at when using phrases like 'kick off meeting' and 'conference call' (well, in German that sounds more ridiculous).
Thorsten Lange, lead programmer, is (of course) extremely proud of the new framework that he has created for the development of new game prototypes. Timm Schwank who provides the artistic content for said prototypes is currnelty worrying about how to create a gloomy mood without using just the 'all too German' colors (you know, that dark brown/dark grey/dark green combination). If it's dark, it's cool? Not with Timm.
The team size increases to up to a dozen memebers as soon as projects of Stealth Combat® size are tackled.
